An Heirloom, Handmade Vintage Wedding Gown!

If you are looking for a completely original, handmade bridal dress that is heirloom quality, look no further.  This gown is structurally in excellent condition with no rips, tears, stains, or holes.  All the pearls and appliques are intact.  To have a dress made for you like this would cost thousands of dollars, easily.  It has been taken to the cleaners and also pressed.  As you can see from the photos, this dress is pristine and gorgeous!

This is a wedding gown that was handmade 27 years ago by a friend of ours.  It took her over 10 months to complete it!  She had to use three different patterns to create this original gown.  She had to travel over 100 miles to find just the right appliques for the dress, which are each sewn on by hand.  The gown has over 8,000 faux pearls that were each sewn on by hand, as well. 


It has a sweetheart neckline with a v-drop waistline that sets on the waist.  It has shoulder pads to hold the shoulders out because of the weight of the pearls.  There is a lovely bow on the back at the waist and strings of pearls across the bodice in the back.  The entire dress weighs approximately 7 pounds.  It can be worn with or without a crinoline for a fuller look.

Teenage Educational Opportunity

Reselling and "treasure hunting" often provides my teenagers with unique learning opportunities.  Here, you will see my 16 year old daughter coming face to face for the first time with a Spectra black and white TV/radio combo. She was confused and bewildered and didn't understand what she was looking at.   She dug through the box and found the cord and plugged it in.  The radio turned on and started blasting music.  My 14 year old son ran into the room, "what in the tarnation is that thing?!"   Son...it's a TV/radio combination. My daughter scanned around and came upon an 80's station.  "Wait...is this thing picking up like *today's* stations?" No, honey...it's a time machine and it's picking up an actual station broadcast from the 80's.  Oh my gosh!
